Taste Profile

Originally crafted with a signature blend of rums, lime juice, orange liqueur, and orgeat syrup, it's a rum-forward drink that's both perfect for a day at the beach, and a must-have classic on any cocktail menu. The Mai Tai was concocted by Victor "Trader Vic" Bergeron back in 1944, and remains a legendary cocktail to this day.

Experience the harmonious blend of rich rums, vibrant citrus notes, and the subtle sweetness of orgeat syrup in our Mai Tai. This tropical symphony accentuates the boldness of the rum, with citrus and almond notes perfectly complementing it to deliver a refreshing yet complex flavour profile.

Rum, Orange Liqueur, Sugar, Bitter Almond Extract, Natural Acidifiers and Stabilisers, Potassium Sorbate.

How To Serve

Open the full aperture can and fill it with ice until it's ⅔ full. Attach and secure the ShakerCan, then shake vigorously for 8-12 seconds. Strain into a rocks, tumbler, or whiskey glass filled about ⅔ with crushed ice. Add more crushed ice to create a small mound on top. Garnish with a mint sprig and lime wedge, and add a straw for easier sipping.

FAQs

Yes and no, because Trader Vic actually created two Mai Tai recipes! His original 1940's Mai Tai recipe does not contain any juices, other than lime. In the 1950's, the Royal Hawaiian Hotel in Waikiki Beach requested that Vic make them a drink for their beach bar, and he chose to 'riff' his Mai Tai recipe, by adding pineapple and orange juice, as well as some grenadine. In time, the Royal Hawaiian 'Mai Tai' became as popular as the original, and sometimes people mix them up, but we chose to make the 1940's classic... for now!

'Mai Tai' is short for 'Mai tai-roa aé', a Polynesian phrase meaning 'out of this world - the best!'. The story goes that when Trader Vic created this drink, two Polynesian friends happened to be the first testers, and this phrase was the first thing they said after taking their first sip.
