BACKGROUND: The Pegu Club is a classic gin cocktail created in 1880. It was named after the bar it was invented in, located just outside of Rangoon, Burma, which is now Yangon, Myanmar, to serve the British army officers. The cocktail traveled the world and was first published in Harry MacElhone’s 1923 book, “ABC of Mixing Cocktails.”
